Fireplace remodel and TV wall
A dated brick fireplace became a clean tiled focal wall with concealed wiring for a wall-mounted television above the mantel.
The situation
What we were solving
The original brick surround dominated the room and the family wanted the television above the firebox without visible cabling or a heat problem.
The work we performed
- Removed the existing surround and prepared a flat, plumb substrate
- Set large-format tile with a tight, symmetrical layout around the firebox
- Built and finished a new hardwood mantel
- Ran concealed power and HDMI to the mount location
- Installed heat shielding and the television mount, then patched and painted
The outcome
The fireplace reads as a designed feature wall instead of a leftover, and the room's seating finally has a single focal point.
